I wanted to give the impression that my portfolio was an art gallery where visitors can view my projects. Thematically, tt was a nice starting point that aligned with my appreciation towards simplistic design.

As I worked on this concept, I found myself thinking about a dissertation written by Hiroki Nakamura, founder of visvim, where he described designing a store β€œwhere customers could experience the product without any noise while still being comfortable.” This store does not play music in order to create β€œa space where products would be showcased with a deliberate seriousness, an ambiance of subtle tension.”

Using this theme simplified the color palette to just shades of white and black, which minimized design decisions. I used custom CSS to design custom content blocks to decrease noise and elevate my work like products in an art gallery.
